Dog Training by Don Offutt

Born and raised in Glenn Dale, Md., Don has always surrounded himself with animals.  Dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, it didn’t matter.  The first pet he owned was a Westie named Scamp.  He spent many days just walking around with Scamp and remembered spending his last days with him.  At around 11 years old he talked his mom into getting him a Golden Retriever.  He named him Brandy and that was the dog that he spent the high school years with.  He trained him to do various commands.  His favorite trick was to jump and clear a backyard fence over 4’ high.

Don turned his attention to various trades during his twenties and found himself as a technician for the telephone company.  With the experience’s that he found, and the skills he learned he always knew that owning his own business was a long time goal.

It wasn’t until he moved to Woodbine, Md., that he realized his dream. He had a 8 year old mix lab named Pepper.  He had just got a new puppy named “Duncan” and realized that they need to keep them in their yard.  He didnt investigate many options and settled on what is now his competitors product, Invisible Fence® .

"I realized from the experience I had with Invisible Fence® that there was an immediate need for a company that could offer more expertise to the customer", says Don Offutt

He began checking on other products in the pet containment and training industry and found many more options.  He decided to pursue his own containment company, and Friendly Pet Boundaries was born.

Friendly Pet Boundaries continues to pursue the very best in pet training products, and is commited to providing products that are superior in design and function.

As Friendly Pet Boundaries LLC. grew, so did the desire for Don to become better at helping people with other issues that customers were having with their pets.

With this enthusiasm and determination, (and Most Importantly, an OK from his wife Denise) he headed off to the country’s leading dog trainer school to learn from the best.  Graduating from the Triple Crown Academy school for dog trainers in Hutto, Texas, allowed Don to pursue the field of dog trainer and behaviorist.  By learning the fundamentals of how dogs learn, Don teaches his clients to better understand there dog and can teach practical lessons for everyday life.

Don Offutt continues to improve his education in dog training, becoming a professional member of the IACP. (www.dogpro.org)  and studying continuously in dog behaviour.

Don still resides in Woodbine, Md with his wife, 3 children and 3 dogs.
